Tail Lights are a part of the vehicles rear lighting system. tail lights also called as Rear Lights/Lamps as they illuminate certain amount of light. The lights always come in a pair; they need to be fixed on the rear left and the rear right side of the vehicle. The tail light is extremely important for vehicles driving behind yours. These lights have multiple uses, they could be used as parking lights, break lights, reverse lights, and it is even used in rainy or even very foggy conditions.

Car tail lights illuminate different colored lights for different indications such as the car’s presence, the size of the vehicle, position, the direction the vehicle is turning into, and also the speed at which the vehicle is travelling. Every vehicle would have different sized tail lights. Without the help of these lights drivers would find it difficult to show any indications while driving.

Rear lights have connecting wires to the brakes. It produces a bright red light automatically when the brakes are applied; this cautions other vehicles behind that the brake was applied for a reason in such force. Depending on the force of the brakes applied, the tail light increases the intensity of the red light. Dimmer light is produced for the functioning of Rear Position Light.

Another part of the tail lights are the signal lights also known as the indicators. These turn signal bulbs are yellow in color and the color is not out of choice but it’s a mandatory rule to be followed. These indicators show where the vehicle is either taking a left or a right turn. This indicator is given a few seconds before the driver is taking his turn. This indicator when turned on manually keeps blinking until the turn is complete and turned off manually. Along with this indicator light some vehicles also have choice of having a beep noise added to the blinking indicator to draw further attention of other drivers.

Reversing lights or backup lights provide light to the rear when the car is reversing out from the parking area or at night when dark. There was a lot of issue on the color to be chosen for the reversing tail lights. Some countries did agree to have amber backing lights while a few other countries did refuse, and agreed to have white backing lights. Automobile manufactures had great difficulty in choosing the right combination with rear turn signal and rear reversing lights.

Different reputed companies manufacture tail lights in standard sizes and shapes. The companies now have the freedom to change the shape of the lights according to their car models, but keeping in mind the right installation rules. Truck tail lights which fit vertically look long and sleek but some have them too high so it partly loses its purpose. 

The standard square tail lights have always been the right size and they don’t look all that bad, if style is the concern. Lately the round tail lights which are manufactured by many companies not only look good but also serve the purpose of illuminating the right amount of light. Some of the different tail lights that are manufactured are the In Pro Car Wear Style Tail lights. These lights are expensive but they are available in Jet black, metallic and crystal chrome. Another great set of tail lights are the VW Golf 4 Tail lights. They are also to the   chrome Lexus style. They are sleek with curved edges giving a neat look. 

Installation rules and manuals are usually provided by companies on the purchase of their tail lights. Buying tail Lights from leading companies would always make a difference in style and quality. The prices would vary but where quality matters the price should not. 

If the price is an issue, then there are leading companies with reasonable prices and good quality tail lights. LED tail lights, the Anzio style lights and many more tail lights are available to choose from with easy and quick installation. Tail lights also come in different fibers like, glass, plastic laminated and tinted. To begin with glass was the only fiber available but plastic tail lights and other materials are also available. Plastic is more durable than the glass material, if a pebble or any hard substance hits the tail light while driving, the possibility of breakage would occur more with glass tail lights. Changing the entire tail light would be necessary. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to match the tail light that is not damaged and then it would be necessary to buy the pair of lights. At this point quality of the tail lights would matter.

Taking the vehicle to a reliable garage to fix the tail lights or replacing them is advisable even though you have an instruction manual. If one tries to follow the manual step by step it might not be a problem, but sometimes tail lights can be a little difficult to fix and might break if too much force is applied. In other cases if one manages to fix the tail light, sometimes a small minute gap is left open and unnoticeable. This will lead to water during rains or even when you are giving a bath to you vehicle. Once water enters, it may even damage the bulb and the wires.

 Various beam lights and colored lights are fixed privately by vehicle owners. These lights are illegal and also create a lot of confusion for the other drivers. Laser beams, spot lights or underbody neon lighting are added below these tail lights to add a style to the rear part of the car. With these lights you could get all the attention but they not only give out excessive light but would also become a distraction
